Jessi qualified as a vet in 2014 and has had a varied clinical career including work around the UK and Australia. In 2017 she found her passion for emergency work and spent the next two years working night shifts in large ECC hospitals. She experienced first hand some of the mental and physical health consequences that can arise from sleep deprivation and shift work, which ultimately resulted in her leaving her career in ECC to return to daytime hours. She is now passionate about improving how shift work is managed and how staff are educated in the veterinary profession, to allow others to thrive in their night shifts roles. Alongside her work with VetShift, she also still works some day and night shifts on a locum basis, and in October 2020 will start an MSc with Oxford University in Sleep Medicine.
James Lewis BA MSc
Director, product manager and chronic bad sleeper!
James gained a first class masters in business management in 2017 and since then has worked in various project management roles. His main area of interest is in product and software development and will be applying this to development of the VetShift online platform and social media campaigns. His interest in sleep health has developed from his own poor sleep quality, and he is passionate about helping others to improve their quality of life through better sleep.
Jax spent his early life roaming the outback of Australia, until a car accident resulted in him requiring a leg amputation and subsequently finding his new forever home with Jessi. Jax has always been passionate about sleep and can often be found gathering sleep data for up to 16hrs a day! When not working hard on his sleep research, he enjoys long walks, chasing squirrels and treats. He is looking forward to gaining further data and continuing to be a good boy <3
